"Equipping students for a Future With Hope (Jer 29.11) through instruction in academic, spiritual and co-curricular activities."
In 2007 our 99 acres were simply bush, and we had a 9 year lease with a vision to establish a Christian secondary school (similar to grades 7-10 in the US). In 2010 we dedicated two classroom buildings and in March of 2011 we occupied these buildings. The project has the support of the local community, the Bulawayo-Midlands district, Zimbabwe-West, and East Ohio annual conferences of the United Methodist Church.
Our long term vision is to establish boarding facilities for students, a clinic and a church, and to offer advanced science and technology classrooms and instruction.
We have the opportunity here to assist in the development of a Secondary School in the Bulawayo Midlands District. We are positioned with our partners to help bring two distinct ethnic groups (Shona and Matabele) together around a common critical need.
The Usahwira is a full scholarship to Africa University for 4 years. We will raise money here with the intent of providing scholarships for students with an emphasis in teaching. The recipients of these scholarships would be students from Zimbabwe.
We are asked to raise money for the purchase of school supplies and school fees. Our intent is to help stock the small clinic with medicine too.
The Nyanyadzi Home of Hope was started in 2000 with the main objective of helping the orphans who were increasing in number due to HIV/AIDS. Many orphans were failing to go to school because of lack of fees. The payment of fees insures basic education and also food to eat.
