CANAL DISTRICT
In the early part of the 19th century the Methodist movement swept across Ohio. At the same time another movement was underway to create the Ohio and Erie Canal, which would join the waterways of Lake Erie with the Ohio River. It is this waterway that runs through Akron, for which the Canal District is named.
United in Christ for over two hundred years, Methodists have helped to bring the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ across the Canal District. We invite you to join us.
