CHURCH AND SOCIETY

Peace with Justice

Peace with Justice Sunday

What you need to know about Peace with Justice Sunday:

  • It is observed on the first Sunday after Pentecost.
  • The day witnesses to God’s demand for a faithful, just, disarmed, and secure world.
  • The Peace and Justice offering supports programs that advocate for peace and justice at home and around the world.
    • One half of the offering goes to the General Board of Church and Society for grants to special programs. The other half remains with the annual conference for peace with justice ministries.
  • Every annual conference has a peace with justice coordinator and committee that determines how the conference money will be used.
  • For specific information about ministries supported by the Peace with Justice Sunday offering, contact the Peace with Justice Program at the General Board of Church and Society, 100 Maryland Ave. NE., Washington, D.C. 20002, (202) 488-5600.

Peace with Justice Grant

The grants are awarded annually. They provide seed money for educational or advocacy programs that celebrate God's call for shalom by working for the realization of peace with justice in our world. Recipients are required to contact the Peace with Justice Program within a year of the grant approval to report how the awarded funds were utilized.
