Canton Calvary Mission serves Christ “in the heart of the community by creating a safe haven and center for learning as well as providing for the spiritual and physical needs of the community." Midwest Mission Distribution Center is designated by United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) as one of its collection centers. The caring ministry is related to the Illinois Great Rivers Conference and the North Central Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church. At its 8-acre campus in Illinois, MMDC provides opportunities for individuals and groups from of all walks of life, denominational backgrounds, abilities, and ages to help provide disaster relief kits and resources, and educational and medical supplies to those in need both locally and internationally. The Nehemiah Mission rebuilds the lives and homes of the physically and fiscally challenged of Cleveland through volunteer mission groups that improve living environments in order to sow seeds of hope for individuals and neighborhoods. OPEN M is an acronym that stands for Opportunity for People Everywhere in Need Ministry. The comprehensive, faith-based ministry of “faith, health, and hope” helps people throughout the greater-Akron area meet the spiritual and physical challenges of living with scarce resources. Work Mission volunteers become the hands and feet of Jesus Christ by giving their time as servants of God. Work groups make building repairs for individuals, families, churches, and nonprofit organizations that cannot afford them. Anyone age 12 or older is welcome to participate.
