Thursday Business

Session Recap

By Rick Wolcott*

The final two resolutions, a shared learning session, and a performance from the 96 children who participated in Vacation Bible School filled Thursday’s business session.

Dr. Joseph Daniels, Jr., lead pastor of Emory United Methodist Church in the Baltimore-Washington Conference, shared personal experiences – and the context behind them – while challenging those in attendance to make a difference in the lives of people in their communities.  During his Bearing Real Fruit presentation, Daniels offered opportunities for participants to share with one another the joys and struggles of making disciples of Jesus Christ in today’s world.

Resolution 2018-01 calling for the Conference to discuss gun violence to protect life was approved

Resolution 2018-11 calling for the Conference to discuss improved school safety was approved.
Annual Conference 2018 was attended by 1,455 delegates (691 clergy, 764 lay).  The 50th Session of East Ohio Annual Conference will be held at Lakeside Chautauqua June 10-13, 2019.  The theme will be Bearing Fruit that Lasts: Committed.
