Mission Opportunities

VIM Mission - Russia - Drawing on sidewalk with chalk

Blue Rose Mission is Offering Scholarships for 2010 Volunteer Teams
The Blue Rose Mission is fortunate to be able to offer up to $500 in scholarship funds for work teams scheduled to work full weeks in 2010.  We are finding many opportunities opening up to work in Richland County this summer. This incentive may be just what your team is looking for to get the application finished and returned to Blue Rose Mission of Mansfield. Please send requests for information and/or return completed applications by mail to:  Blue Rose Mission, 230 S. Main Street
Mansfield, Ohio 44902 or email workmission@bluerosemission.org

One of the major goals of Operation Classroom is to assist UM schools in Liberia and Sierra Leone to become basically self-supporting.  The major source of income for the school is school fees.  Many parents cannot afford to send their children to school.  Operation Classroom is working to enable schools to become more self supporting.  An oil palm farm is one excellent way for this to become a reality.  Each seedling costs $10 to purchase and cultivate until it begins to produce fruit.  Many OC schools will be able to plant around 150 seedlings.  An oil palm will produce Palm Oil for around 50 years.   You are invited to prayerfully consider making this a part of your Lenten giving.  You can make a donation either by credit card on our website at www.operationclassroom.org or by sending a check to: Operation Classroom, PO Box 246, Colfax, IN 46035.  Be sure to mark your gift “Palm Trees.”

Jackson Area Ministries’ (JAM) Seed Project Continues for 2010:
JAM is a mission project of The United Methodist Church serving the Appalachian counties of Ohio.  JAM Garden Project (Green Thumb Garden Project) in 2009 initiated 3,174 gardens throughout the 19 counties of southeast Ohio.  Since the early 1970’s, JAM has been assisting families and individuals in improving their food supply by enabling them to “Grow” their own vegetable gardens.  JAM’s Green Thumb Garden Project expresses its gratitude to all who contributed this past summer and we are beginning to plan for the 2010 growing season.  If you are interested in participating this year, send your inquiry to:  JAM Gardening, PO Box 603, Jackson, Ohio 45640.  Phone: 1-888-237-3141 or e-mail jamjar@midohio.twcbc.com.  A brochure, complete report, bulletin inserts, and other information are available.

Nehemiah Adult Work Teams

Currently there are requests for four wheelchair ramps, two homes that need serious interior work, an inner city church with multiple needs and a home on the west side of Cleveland that is being rehabbed to become an annex of the mission for additional mission team housing. The mission is also partnering with The Harp Mission to help distribute personal hygiene kits, clothes and furniture. The mission is asking for adult work teams to consider week long mission trips during the months of September through May.
