UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
Below are suggestions of material that may be used for UMW Sunday, 2019. We are focusing on the 150th anniversary of UMW with our two-year theme: Remember the Past; Embrace the Present; Transform the Future. This year we are looking at powerful women of the past.
Because of our anniversary this year, no matter what you choose to use as the main topic of your UMW Sunday, at some point Isabella Thoburn and Dr. Clara Swain should be mentioned. It was because of their boldness to venture to India as missionaries that the Women’s Foreign Missionary Society was formed from which United Methodist Women evolved.

Bulletin Inside: (Sample to be edited for individual unit’s use and/or suggest a format for United Methodist Women Sunday).
The bulletin cover can be printed first, then put in the paper drawer appropriately so the inside prints on the paper’s blank side with the direction set to print the inside right side up with the bulleting cover, print the inside, fold the bulletin for use, stuff with the appropriate inserts, and have it readily available for Sunday.

Bulletin Inserts/Message Starters: All inserts in this packet are setup in a landscape format (long side of paper is the original width). The finished width will be half that size. The pieces listed as two-sided may be used as bulletin inserts by printing them on both sides with the back to have the second side be on the opposite of the front. This can be done by flipping the page on the short side and copying the original. If this is lined up appropriately, the two sides on the front will be flipped to be on the opposite side to form two half-sheet copies. Cut these in half and use one half per bulletin.
The pieces listed as one-sided will have two of the same things. You may wish to put some of your unit information which did not fit into the bulletin on the other side. Should you choose to do so, use a landscape set up for two columns and exactly what is in the left column should be copied to the right. You may also use this format to do a two-sided original insert yourself.
These pieces may also be used as a start off point for composing a message.
